Trying to lose weight? Trouble with your figure and cellulite?

Diet and Figure Correction

We will design a personal program for you to help you control your diet and exercise routine. A weekly weigh in, advice on diet, exercise, skin care, cellulite and massage for problem areas is combined in the six week course.

Six weeks with our expert care and support will give you a fantastic start physically and mentally to help you with long term ambitions  to achieve the body shape you want.

Contact Debbie Locke Health and Beauty Spa for a free consultation.

An important aspect of our program is G5 Deep Stimulatory  Massage.

G5 Deep Stimulatory Massage
A G5 massage helps in many ways:

Lymphatic Drainage Treatments:
This therapy helps drain the lymphatic system which is the body’s waste disposal system. Thus, when a person becomes tired or ill, the lymphatic system can become sluggish and an excess of waste material can remain at different sites in the body.

Lymphatic drainage therapy helps move the lymph fluid along the drainage corridors and stimulates the lymph nodes to clean out the system.
Once excess lymphatic waste has been drained and expelled from the lymphatic system and body tissues, it leaves more room for oxygenated blood, white blood cells and healing repair mechanisms to continue the body’s natural cleansing processes.

Cellulite before and after

Cellulite Reduction Treatments:

This therapy uses the G5 on specific cellulite problem areas to redistribute cellulite globules in the deeper levels of the skin. When combined with good diet and exercise, this treatment provides great improvement to the tone and texture of the skin.

A well as helping with figure correction, G5 also offers other benefits:

Deep Muscle Relaxation Treatments:
G5 deep muscle relaxation therapy helps heal tired, strained or damaged muscles. Aches and pains can be the result of muscle tightness that can be manipulated by the G5 at a deep tissue level. This helps faster and better healing with greater comfort.

For sports enthusiasts, it is important to maintain the vital condition of the muscles to maximize athletic performance. The G5 can provide this repair and deep tissue treatment for optimal sports performance and movement flexibility.

General Soft Tissue Injury Treatments:
Many people suffer muscle injury or strain due to repetitive work activities, and improper sitting or standing postures. The G5 helps to manipulate the soft tissue of the body to produce the desired healing effects on the nervous and muscular systems.

Unsightly Red Veins?

Removing Red Veins

Red or broken veins are a common problem that can be easily rectified by simple diathermy.

An example of red veins

The same area after removal of red veins

Diathermy is a type of thermolysis used to cauterise the capillaries and small veins that are engorged with blood; this dries up the blood that is engorging the vein. Instant results are achieved and although it is an invasive treatment it is a tried and tested method of thread vein removal.

In many cases only one or two treatments are necessary to achieve permanent removal. Also, this method of treatment can be used to remove skin tags, warts and moles.

Our therapists are fully qualified in this advanced treatment.

We carry out these treatments in sessions of five or ten minutes; this allows the removal of multiple red veins or skin tags. The procedures cause minimum discomfort.

Top Skin Care Tips

Skin Care by Debbie Locke Health and Beauty Spa

Dry areas on thighs, elbows and arms are a common problem. The best way to treat this is with a gentle scrub or loofah, then apply body lotions after each shower or bath.

***************

When showering or bathing, use luke warm water rather than hot water; hot water has a drying effect and will rob the skin of its natural moisture, causing broken capillaries and dry, flaking skin.

***************

If you suffer from dry and cracked skin on the heels of your feet, then try putting a petroleum jelly, e.g. Vaseline, on the affected areas just before bedtime. Protect the coating (and your sheets!) using socks and when you get up in the morning your feet will be nice, soft and supple.

***************

Feet can be rather neglected and for some people, present a real problem. Did you know that wearing talcum powder in your shoes will help to prevent excess sweating? This is important since people with sweaty feet can become.....people with smelly feet! Pass the cheese! Seriously though, look after your feet. after having a bath or shower, use a pumice stone 2 -3 times a week on the hard areas. You will be amazed at the reduction in hard skin.

***************

It is a good idea to exfoliate your skin, (i.e. remove the top dead layer of skin cells), every couple of days aftering waxing. This will help to prevent 'ingrowing' hairs. You can exfoliate your skin by using an exfoliating cleanser; choose one with a grainy texture, containing ingredients like oatmeal, ground almonds or even sea salt. For a very mild exfoliation, use a hand cloth.

If in doubt, consult the experts! We would love to see you , so give us a ring on 01934 877700

Colonic Hydrotherapy - promotes detoxification of your body

Colonic Hydrotherapy at Debbie Locke Health and Beauty Spa

Colonic hydrotherapy or irrigation is a gentle internal bath using warm, purified water that can help to eliminate stored faecal matter, gas, mucus and toxic substances from the colon. The colon, or large intestine, is the end portion of the human digestive tract (food carrying passageway extending from the mouth to the anus).

Why do people have colonic irrigation?

Well, waste material, especially that which has remained in the colon for some time, (i.e. impacted faeces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites, etc.), poses several problems. First this material is quite toxic (poisonous). These poisons can re-enter and circulate in the blood stream making us feel ill, tired or weak. Second, impacted materials impair the colon's ability to assimilate minerals and bacteria- produced vitamins. And finally, a build-up of material on the colon wall can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements, constipation, and the result of these disorders. Other symptoms include: headaches, backaches, constipation, fatigue, bad breath, body odour, irritability, confusion, skin problems, abdominal gas, bloating, diarrhoea, sciatic pain, and so forth.

Toxins in the colon is common. Toxic material is found throughout the body, particularly in fat tissue, joints, arteries, muscles, liver, etc. Colonics effectively eliminate large quantities of toxic waste, affecting the condition of the entire body.

What does colonic hydrotherapy do?

After treatment you'll probably feel lighter and enjoy a sense of well-being. Not infrequently, someone having their first colonic will remark that it was one of the most wonderful experiences of their life. As soon as the colonic is finished you can carry on with daily routine.

The treatment will:

1. Cleanse the Colon

2. It Exercises the Colon Muscles

3. It Reshapes the Colon

4. It Stimulates Reflex Points

Is colonic irrigation painful?

It rarely is. Usually, painful experiences are the result of resistance and tension. A professional colon therapist is skilled at putting you at your ease and minimizing discomfort. Most people actually enjoy the colonic and are especially pleased with the unaccustomed sensation of feeling lighter, clean and clear afterward.

Will colonic hydrotherapy be embarrassing ?

No, you will fully maintain your personal dignity. You will be in a private room with only your therapist, who fully appreciates the sensitivity of the colonic procedure and will help you feel at ease. After the gentle insertion of a small tube into the rectum, you are completely covered. Rubber tubing carries clean water in and waste out in a gravity pressured system. The mess and odour sometimes present during an enema simply does not exist with a colonic.

Being an essentially natural process, there is virtually no danger with a colonic. Cleaning and sterilization of the necessary equipment is done as normal procedure and clean linen is used for each colonic as well.

Rest assured.

You may visit a Registered Colon Hydrotherapist with confidence. To be on the Register a therapist must either have been trained and experienced in orthodox medicine (e.g. doctor, dentist or nurse) or have satisfactory training in anatomy and physiology and considerable training and experience in a body-based complementary therapy other than colonic therapy. Our Colon Hydrotherapist is a Registered Therapist with ARCH (Association and Register of Colonic Hydrotherapists). ARCH has been the lead body for colonic hydrotherapy since its inception and represents the largest number of Colon Hydrotherapists in the UK, maintaining a register of therapists who are in full and probationary membership within the Association and who must have qualified at a recognised training course.

Your visit to a colonic therapist will involve the taking of your case history followed by an explanation of the procedure. The colonic itself will take 30-45 minutes during which time water will be gently introduced into the colon via the rectum whilst your therapist uses special massage techniques to gently cleanse and flush the colon.

Your modesty is preserved at all times.

Our Registered Colon Hydrotherapist is under great demand; therefore 50% deposit is required in order to confirm your booking (payable on booking the appointment).

Skin Tags

A lot of people suffer from skin tags.  Skin tags are small flesh-coloured or brown growths that hang off the skin and look a bit like warts. They are very common and are often unsightly and cause the sufferer some embarrassment.

Skin Tags

They are usually found on the neck, in the armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts. They can also grow on the eyelids or under the folds of the buttocks.

Why skin tags occur

It is thought skin tags grow where skin rubs against skin or clothing. This would explain why they tend to affect overweight people who have excess folds of skin and skin chafing.

Removing skin tags

It is very unusual to be able to have a skin tag removed on the NHS and people usually need to pay privately.  Do not attempt to remove large skin tags yourself because they will bleed heavily.

We can remove skin tags using diathermy;  the stalk of a skin tag is cauterised to prevent nerve and blood supply to the body of the tag. The result of this procedure is a tiny black cauterisation mark that heals leaving no scar.

The treatment is fast and virtually painless.  We carry out these treatments in sessions of five or ten minutes; this allows the removal of multiple red veins or skin tags. The procedures cause minimum discomfort.

Semi Permanent Makeup

We specialise in semi permanent makeup.

Just think, no more daily application of makeup!!!!! Think of the time each day  plus the saving in eyeliner and lip liner!!!

Particularly popular is the use of semi permanent makeup to remove unsightly scar lines in eye brows and to boost weak eye brows.

Please note that this is a highly skilled procedure; the last thing anyone wants is makeup looking awful or artificial. Debbie has been doing this for 28 years and is highly proficient.

The makeup can last for up to 10 years. Having applied the semi permanent pigments, the treatment includes two complimentary top ups over a year, to make sure the makeup looks great.

UV and your skin

Now that the sun is higher in the sky, a lot of people quite rightly reach for sun protection cream. However, it is not just on lovely summers days that you risk skin damage from the sun. Even on cloudy autumn and spring days, your skin could be harmed by UVB from the sun. So, always wear a sun cream with an spf of at least 15. Sustained use of this will help prevent lines and wrinkles.

Eczema and Skin Care

Eczema is a common and often chronic condition of the skin that is seen as severe dryness, itching, and sometimes, cracks in the skin.

Eczema is often worse in the winter and is frequently located on the back and lower legs. Eczema is found in all age groups, with children and the elderly the most common sufferers. There is not a cure for eczema and treatment is focused on treating the symptoms like itching and dryness.

Treatment for eczema often includes topical steroids and plenty of moisturisers. People with eczema are taught to avoid fragrances due to the increased sensitivity of the skin from the dryness and cracks. People suffering from eczema should be evaluated to rule out other problems that look like and act like eczema.

In the Spa, we can use colour products that gently soothe and cover skin problems like rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation, eczema and psoriasis. Our Jane Iredale powders are great for menopausal women with hot flushes! Water and heat resistant! Swim care free for up to 80 minutes! Use as sun protection, even after cosmetic surgery or facial peels.

Known as The Skin Care Makeup, the Jane Iredale makeup line is so safe and beneficial to use that it is recommended by Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists throughout the world. Jane Iredale's "Beauty with Benefits" combines the most up-to-date colours with skin-care benefits that conventional makeup can only envy:

Caring for your toenails - preventing ingrowing toenails

We all want healthy feet that look good, especially in the summer. One condition that a lot of people get is ingrowing toenails.

The most common cause of ingrowing toenails is incorrect trimming of the nail. Leaving sharp corners, trimming too closely to the skin, or leaving the edges of the nail with a ragged finish is inviting problems.

The correct way to trim your toenail is to trim the nail straight across, following the natural shape of the nail, then file gently to leave a smooth edge and ease off any sharp corners.

Waxing

Before having your waxing in the salon, remember NOT to apply body lotion, swim or have a bath/shower. The reasons for this are the body lotion will not allow the hairs to be picked up completely; bathing, showering or swimming will result in the skin being softened, retaining water, resulting in 'skinning' during waxing, leaving the treated area sore and red.

Waxing needs to be carried out by a highly-skilled, competent beauty therapist. Debbie Locke Health and Beauty Spa would only recommend this approach; many of our clients have come in to the Spa following terrible 'home disasters'.

Caring for your skin

The skin on our face has to be the most visible and therefore the most precious to us! Always make sure you cleanse your face at least twice before going to, to remove all traces of makeup. Make sure you use a cleanser that has been designed to remove makeup. Rinse your face using clear warm water and then use a soft towel to gently dry your skin, using a patting action rather than rubbing. Then, when you wake in the morning, your face will be lovely and fresh and ready for the new day.

Dry Skin on your face?

Always try and use non-alcohol based products on the face as these can be very drying and can open the skin to infection. If dry skin on the face is a problem, Matis Facial such as Youth Response Facial would be an excellent solution.

Beautfiful Eyes

Fine lashes which clog easily. If you have fine eye lashes and more than one layer of mascara causes them to 'clog', making the lashes look sparse, then you need to avoid a mascara that is based on fibres. With a non-fibrous mascara, you can confidently use several layers to give lashes a good build up, making them more substantial in appearance as well as a glamorous look.
